I have just joined the GP practice and we had to go through my meds. This was done in a friendly, concisely, and thoroughly. This was a pleasant discussion and full evaluation of my meds with changes and recommendations that made sense.
I was really pleased with the care given to me by Dr Porter. She was at all times calm, professional and most importantly she listened. She examined me thoroughly, asked questions to get to the root of the problem, and explained clearly what she believed my problem is. She then talked through the options, and patiently and clearly answered my many questions.
This was the first time I had seen Dr Porter in person, but both my husband and I have had telephone appointments with her previously. She has always been very thorough in checking symptoms and arranging investigations where necessary, and we both respect and trust her knowledge and her professionalism.
I went to see the doctor when I had a sudden problem. The Dr Porter listened carefully and prescribed some medicine.
We managed to get the appointment because it was an emergency, but usually it is difficult to get an appointment because I have to phone on the morning I need an appointment. By the time I get an answer, very often there are not any appointments left, so this can go on for days.
This is not the doctors fault, I think is how the surgery is managed.
So I am pleased with Dr. Porter, but not how the surgery is managed now. Used to be good.
Doctor Porter took the time to listen to my problems and help me understand ,sort out tests and explain what happens next .
I raised concerns with the receptionist about my uncles health and she was able to get me a phone appointment which happened within 2 hours and the doctor was able to give advice and secure an in person appointment for my uncle with his preferred doctor which at 97 pleased him no end .
